Ideas Every Day #202 – Game Console Sharing

Your game console is great (xBox, PlayStation, etc) but you can’t play it 24 hours a day.  OK, I’m not a gamer, so maybe some people can play it 24 hours a day – but you get the point.  Also, new game consoles are expensive.  What if you could find a way to make money from your console when you’re not using it.

There are plenty of examples of being able to allow your computer’s processor to contribute to some big distributed computing power need.  Can’t that same principle be leveraged for connected gaming consoles.

Imagine that while you’re not using your console and it’s connected, it could be rented out over the internet by someone who doesn’t have one, or has an older version. She or he could use the power of your console while it sits idle in your house.

Seems like there could be a better way to share all of this gaming hardware that exists.

Yes, and…
