Ideas Every Day #177 – Bulk Travel Guides

Every time I travel to a new country I like to buy a Lonely Planet Country Guidebook.  Over the years I’ve loved seeing them on my bookcase and while in country they are a great physical resource I can easily reference or pass to someone else.  Even if you don’t visit the country, a guidebook can be a great way to learn about a new place or gauge if you would actually want to take a trip there.

While I used to only buy them right before a trip, I’ve started thinking it would be interesting to buy all of the countries I want to visit or all of the books for a certain region I’m interested in so they sit on my bookcase calling out for me to make the travel plans.   At the same time, I think it might spark something interesting for my kids to see books about all of different countries of the world right in our home.  Sure, they can get even more info. from the internet, but I think books stimulate in different ways.

The trouble is, I haven’t been able to find an easy way to purchase all of the guidebooks for a certain area.  For instance, why can’t I go on Lonely Planet’s site and just choose something like the “Europe Package” which would have a guidebook for every country in Europe?

Seems like an easy way to get the guides you want. Worst case, it’ll be an easy way for someone to fill up his or her bookshelves.

Yes, and…
