Ideas Every Day #164 – Sun Pattern Simulator for Google Maps

I’m trying to plan some outdoor living space at my house.  I can see how the sun shines today and where it gives shade at certain times of the day, but it is only one day’s worth of data.

Let’s mashup some existing data to be able to click a specific location in something like Google Maps, point out the direction we want to simulate (like the back of the house or the side or front) and then see an overview of how the sun would shine throughout the year on that particular spot.

Maybe Pixar could throw in some of their lighting effect technology so we could really model this in detail.

The potential uses are numerous, as well as the overall increase in sun glare safety planning.
