Ideas Every Day #40 – The Reversible Fire Hydrant

Clearing snow from the streets in your neighborhood are more trouble than it should be.  Some of the newer ways of attacking the clearing snow and what to do with all that snow problem include trucks that scoop up the snow and turn it into water that they try to put down the sewers.

What about finding ways to leverage the pipes and hydrants that already exist in just about every neighborhood?   Can you make the fire hydrant able to use the water pressure to create a suction pump instead of just sending out water.  Maybe there’s some way to rig up a venturi pump type system to use the hydrant to vacuum up all that snow and get rid of it.

What else could we leverage fire hydrants for?
