Mark Cuban on Business

Since Shark Tank is in it’s new season I’ve been paying attention to a lot more Mark Cuban lately.   Here are two quotes that I’ve heard recently from him that I think resonate in many ways.  And yes, one is a sports reference, and I kind of hate sports references.

“You were trying to hit a homer and ended up on third when hitting a single would of won the game.”

and

“I hate when people say follow your passion. I think it’s much better to follow your effort.  People say they can’t decide or don’t know what their passion is, but you can always look back and at what you’re doing currently and see where you’re putting your actual effort.  That’s where you should build your business because success follows effort.”

I won’t try to spell out how you can interpret the quotes, that’s where the magic of learning from them will come.
