Google announced that they were shutting down their Google TV Ads sales system. Basically they tried to bring an automated, simple, easy to use and transparent platform to the way too traditional business of media buying.
While maybe a smart move for Google, it’s a shame that it basically means we’ll continue having the Mad Men era TV ad buying system that allows for inflated fees and egos in the ad buying world and isn’t set up for more nimble entry level players.
Or, does it mean that Google realizes the end of traditional TV commercials are near? Let’s hope.
