The Consumerization of IT: If You Can Do It At Home, Why Not At Work

I’ve been hearing a lot more lately about the trend of the consumerization of IT and how general consumers have access to more powerful tools than within large scale organizations.

The process has been around for long enough now that we should be able to see some substantial research pointing to the overall impact to organizations that have chosen to embrace vs. hinder this phenomenon.

Here’s some interesting starter information from Wikipedia on consumerization.

Seems like an open area for companies to develop tools or professional services that help drive large organizations to embrace the trend.  Does IBM offer this yet?  Who wants to be the middle-ware that interfaces with every possible personal device and correctly integrate it into an organization?
